It was an exciting year in 4-H in Greene County with many educational activities for youth. There were project workshops, 4-H Shows, 4-H Camp, Great Outdoor Camps, Teen Leadership Conference, Teen Health Classes, and much more.
There were 145 members including 11 Cloverbuds (4-H for 5 to 7 year olds) in 7 community and special interest clubs. An additional 1,170 youth were reached through short-term groups including in-school food groups, Teen Health Classes, Teen Leadership Conference, and others.
4-H was marketed through National 4-H Week activities, a 4-H flag flying at the Extension Building, and more. 4-H was also featured more on the office's website with more information, including photo galleries, and links to other 4-H sites.
Once again the opportunity was provided to 4-H members to exhibit their projects at the 4-H General Show and shows for livestock, horses, dogs, rabbits, poultry, and cats and small animals. They earned ribbons and cash premiums and some earned trophies, U.S. Savings Bonds, and some were selected to exhibit at the Illinois State Fair. Greene County 4-H'ers earned three Superior rating for being the best of the best.
4-H members also completed community service sponsoring the Feather Fest to raise money to have a Relay for Life team and assisted with clean-up of the Greene County Fairgrounds to get it ready for the fair.
