Community and Economic Development

Building communities

We were involved in the re-organization of the Greene County Economic Development Committee and hope to co-sponsor activities with it in the future to improve the business climate of Greene County.

We continued to meet with the Carrollton Chamber of Commerce and Greene County Tourism Committee to support their activities.

The Public Officials Tele-Institutes provided training for City Aldermen, County Board Members, and future elected officials on a variety of topics to help them better serve local citizens.

We couldn't do what we do without the dedicated volunteers who give their time and talents to the program. A total of 243 citizens, including 49 youth, served in various volunteer positions in 2005-2006. These positions included Council members, 4-H Club Leaders, fair superintendents, committee members, auctioneers, auction clerks, workshop instructors, and others. They are recognized throughout the year in a variety of ways.

To help guide our Community & Economic Development (CED) program in the future, twenty-two local citizens responded to a CED Survey to identify local issues to help develop the Four-Year Plan of Work in that programming area.
