4-H Holiday Workshop Scheduled
Plans are underway for the annual 4-H Holiday Workshop, scheduled for December 12 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Extension Building in Carrollton. Any teens or adults who would like to volunteer to assist or lead an activity are encouraged to contact Jackie Stendeback at the Extension ofice as early as possible.
There will be a $5 participation fee which will help cover the costs of the craft materials and supplies for holiday treats. 4-H membership is not required to participate and the workshop is open to all ages. Children under the age of 5 or those needing special assistance should bring a supervising teen or adult.
Pre-registration is highly recommended to ensure enough materials are available – call the Extension office, 217-942-6996, or e-mail sjackie@illinois.edu.
-H Federation will have their next meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, at Alfonso's Pizza in Carrollton. Officers will be elected and Federation delegates will celebrate their accomplishments with pizza and soda.
4-H Federation is a group of 4-H members from all of the county's community clubs. Each club should be represented by at least two delegates.
On October 3, 4-H seamstresses were really busy cutting and stitching!
The group managed to crank out 37 holiday stockings and send to Operation Christmas for deployed U.S. soldiers.
Federation fundraiser "Hot Potato" ended up with 37 "Hot Potato Bags". These "Hot Potato" bags are to use in the microwave to cook potatoes, corn-on-the-cob and reheat tortilla shells, breads, etc. and are on sale now at the Extension Office for $5. These make wonderful teacher's gifts and stocking stuffers!
Attention all 4-H members and parents! Join us on Tuesday, December 2, at 7:00 p.m. for a very important workshop on Internet Safety for teens and children. Mike Lovel, Certified Investigator – Internet Crime Against Children, will present the workshop.
As new Internet websites are created and others expand, it's important to be very cautious.
There is no registration fee for this event and 4-H membership is not required. Call today to reserve your seat!
