Community Service Project/Pillowcases for CJ's Bus

On November 6, 2005, Kathryn Martin's life was changed forever. That is the day the deadly F3 tornado tore through Evansville and Newburgh, Indiana and took the lives of her 2 year old son, her mother-in-law, and her grandmother-in-law. Twenty-five lives were lost to one of the deadliest tornados in Indiana history.

Please visit http://cjsbus.org to see how Kathryn has worked so hard to help others in need when a disaster hits. Now it is your turn to help out. I personally met Kathryn at an event held at Lyle's Station near Princeton, IN. I was able to tour CJ's Bus and was so touched by this story.

Kathryn told me how someone gave her pillowcases that she took to a disaster site. The children she gave them to put their few belongings inside like a sack. This touched Kathryn so much she said they could then use the pillowcases on their beds in the future and remember the kindness and love they were shown on CJ's Bus. A nursing home in the Evansville area makes fleece blankets so each child gets one of their own to keep.

Here is how you can help. Either buy pillowcases or make them yourself. Deliver the new pillowcases to the 4-H office and we will deliver them to CJ's Bus. We need hundreds of pillowcases to be prepared for the next disaster.

Contact Karen at 618-269-3049 if you have any questions. Let's set a goal for 150 pillowcases by Thanksgiving.
