Several community committees and organizations collaborate to enhance economic and community development in Saline, Gallatin, Pope and Hardin counties. Efforts include REDI (Regional Economic Development Initiative) sponsored by Southeastern Illinois College, Area Main Street Programs and Illinois Delta Network Grants for Health Care.
Programs are also coordinated with the Small Business Development Center of SIC, Southeastern IL Regional Development & Planning Commission, IL Department of Commerce & Economic Development. University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment.

Winter Wonderland Decorating Contest
Gallatin County 4-H members should create a gingerbread house using things that you can eat.
The gingerbread house must not exceed 2 feet in height, including the base.
It may not exceed 2 feet wide or deep.
Except for the base, the entry must be made completely of edible products.
Edible materials are not limited to sweets.
All wrappers must be removed. Houses must be free of inedible materials.
Houses are judged on the following criteria: 1. overall appearance 2. originality 3. creative expression 4. difficulty
Display your amazing house at a location to be announced (TBA).
Judging will be Monday, December 14.
First, Second and Third place will be awarded in each age group if the judges so chooses. All rulings of the judges are final.
Age categories will be: ~ Teen - Ages 12 to 18 ~ Youth - Ages 8 to 11 ~ Child - Ages 5 to 7
