University of Illinois Extension provides practical, research-based information and programs to help individuals, families, farms, businesses and communities in Illinois. Its mission in short, is to help the citizens of Illinois put knowledge to work. The contribution of volunteers in the following areas is essential to the achievement of this mission.

Volunteer opportunities with our office include:
4-H and Youth Program 4-H is a voluntary, informal educational program for boys and girls ages 8-18.
Extension Unit Council Extension councils cooperate with Extension staff in planning, promoting, developing, implementing, evaluating, and financing an Extension program designed to meet the needs, interests, and resources of the local communities served.
Master Gardeners Master Gardeners are volunteers who provide service to a community by addressing common horticulture problems and questions.
All volunteers working with youth are screened prior to undertaking assignments.
