Training for Local Government Officials

Local government officials will have the opportunity to gain valuable information about important issues without leaving the county, thanks to University of Illinois Extension programs.

• The Fall 2009 Tele-Institute Series of Local Government Education Programs schedule is:
• September 17 – Reducing Flood Losses and Protecting Floodplain Resources in Illinois
• October 22 – Energy Conservation – It's All in the Details
• November 19 – Legislative Update

The programs are offered from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Fulton County Extension office in Lewistown.

"Extension has a long tradition of educating local officials. Tele-Institute programs provide local officials an opportunity to gain access to experts on current issues without leaving their home county," said Jeri Marxman, Extension Specialist in Public Affairs and Public Policy Education.

Presenters for the program include university faculty, representatives of state and federal agencies, and community leaders with experience in the issues and challenges faced by local officials.

The Tele-Institute program also provides the opportunity for county officials to earn Certified County Official (CCO) credit. Each Tele-Institute qualifies for 2 hours of general CCO credit.

The registration fee for each program is paid by Fulton County Extension. Registration should be completed no later than one day prior to each program. Those interested in participating should call Fulton County Extension at 547-3711.
