Medical evidence shows that most older people who get a modest amount of regular physical activity and eat right are healthier and feel better. You only need to follow a few simple steps a day to make better food choices and be more active. Extension is offering a four week program for adults 55 and over to help you achieve these goals. The "You Can" program is set for March 10, 17, 24, and April 4 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the Extension Building west of Benton. Jennifer Nance, RD and nutrition education staff member in Franklin County, will be the instructor. Participants will receive a pedometer, guide book, healthy snacks and recipes, and helpful information. There is no fee because of funding provided by Southern Illinois Healthcare, but you need to contact the Extension office at 439-3178 by March 5th so that materials and supplies can be available for you. Please let us know when registering if you need a reasonable accommodation to attend this program.
