Leasing terminology, mining rights, eminent domain, subsidence liability, property exchanges, 1031 tax free exchanges, reverse 1031 tax free exchanges, capital gains, etc.–these are all terms that local families need to understand.
Because of industrial developments in the area related to coal and railroads, there are landowners who have major decisions to make. University of Illinois Extension and Franklin County Farm Bureau are sponsoring a program to help get answers to questions on rights that landowners have and tax consequences they may face if they sell off some of their assets.
The program is set for Monday, December 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the University of Illinois Extension Building on Rt. 14 west of Benton. Curt Barnes, Attorney and Tax Consultant from Galatia, will share information on both of these issues. Curt has a great deal of experience and insight on these topics, and has worked with many individuals in the area to help them achieve the best possible results from the transactions they need to make.
There is no fee for this workshop, and any interested person is welcome to attend. This information will be helpful to anyone who is selling assets and may face some tax liabilities. Call 618-439-3178 for more information and to register by December 12th.
