Cranberries Galore
This time of the year we see lots of cranberries. Some people like to eat them at their holiday table while others may string them to decorate for the holidays. Cranberries are a fruit that is grown on a low growing vine in sandy marshes. Wisconsin is known as being the top state in cranberry production. They produce over 50% of the United State's cranberries. Cranberries also have a great health benefit. They are low in calories and are full of antioxidants.
To learn more about this amazing fruit visit the following websites to see videos of cranberry production, pictures of bogs, learn the history of cranberries, and even find some recipes.

Almost Turkey Time
It is almost Thanksgiving and that means lots of turkey (at least with my family). Did you know that in the U.S. today growers produce nearly one turkey for every person in the country. That's a lot of turkey! Turkeys are raised on farms just like other livestock like cows, pigs, and chickens. The turkeys are sold and shipped to a plant where they are prepared to go to the store so that you can buy it for your holiday meal. Visit http://www.farmissues.com/virtualTour/ to see a turkey farm and how it works.
Here is another neat website where you can follow a turkey from egg to table. http://www.albertaturkey.com/for_kids/index.php?action=turkeytrail&anchor=fun
For more fun turkey facts and fun visit University of Illinois Extension's Turkey for the Holidays website at http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/turkey/.
Happy Thanksgiving!
