May Update

Sandwich sale at Hometown in Gilman got off to a cold and rainy start. Then the sun came out along with the wind. We were fighting to keep the tent over out heads until they finally took it down.

Lots of laughter and tears were had by all. Thanks to those of you who were able to help that day.

Also a big thanks to Ellen who worked for Ashley, we could not have done it without you.

Last meeting was on April 20 at the Extension office where we spent a lot of time making plans for our Trip to Turkey Run on June 27.

Next meeting is set for May 18th at 6:30 pm for board members and 7:00 for delegates.

Hope to see you all there.

Canned Food Drive a Success

Thank you to the Federation members who were able to go shopping for the 4-H CAN Make a difference food drive.

We raised 0ver $1800 dollars and were able to purchase around $205 for each of the 9 food pantries in our area.

Then we went back to my house for the meeting and followed the meeting up with making the gift in a jar cocoa mix. We made over 4 dozen of them in recognition of all of the volunteers during National Volunteer Recognition week.

Included are some of the pictures.

December Meeting and Holdiay Exchange

December 8th the Ford-Iroquois Federation held their monthly meeting and holdiay celebration.

The evening started with a monthly meeting:

The results for the Toys for Tots were shared with Ashley Nagele and Clint Morgeson taking the toys to Sheldon for dispersal.

Ashley Nagele and Ashley Luhman have decided to have the bi-county 4-H skating event at the U of I skating rink in February. The date is to be determined. The 4-H Federation will pay for 2 hours of skate time for up to 100 people. RSVP from 4-H clubs will be taken at the Extension office for an estimated count of participants.

The 4-H Can Make a Difference Food Drive flyers will go out in January to 4-H Clubs. The 4-H Federation members will do their shopping for the Ford and Iroquois Food Pantries in March.

The next meeting will be MONDAY, January 26th at 7:00pm at the Extension office in Onarga.

Keeping IT Green

The event "Keeping it Green" was be held on November 15th from 9:00 am till noon.

There were three drop off sites;, they were Cissna Park High School, Clifton Central High School, and Big R in Watseka. Ford-Iroquois 4-H Federation served as coordinators in these areas.

The items collected at this time will be TV's and computer monitors. Unfortunately there was a cost associated with these items;

TV's up to 24" = $10.00 total collected: 18 TV's at $10.00 =$180.00

24"-40"= $15.00 total collected: 3 TV's at $15.00 =$ 45.00

Console= $20.00 total collected: 6 TV's at $20.00 =$ 120.00

Computer monitors = $5.00 total collected: 27 monitors at $5.00 =$135.00

total collected $480.00

Ford-Iroquois Federation members helped coordinate the event at each site. The Cissna Park FFA and Clifton Central FFA members graciously agreed to help facilitate and give a hand with this community event. Likewise, Big R in Watseka provided the site in Watseka.

After the event, the collected items were taken to Danville to be recycled and distributed. A large thank you to Darrin Fischer who took the goods to WITS.
