R.I.S.K.

R.I.S.K. is a simulation activity and guided discussion that provides teens with a visual understanding of the consequences associated with engaging in sexual activity. Each participant becomes a character who faces real life issues related to sexual activity. It is reality-based simulation that is drawn from statistical research of actual sexual risk-taking consequences among teens in the USA.

The sensitivity of the issues is recognized and it is an entirely value-free non-judgmental approach. RISK is designed to be flexible enough to fit the comfort level and norms of groups using the program. Sensitive issues may be left out and the story can be adjusted. However, it is strongly suggested that all issues be included to best reflect reality. Participants are also given an opportunity to withdraw at any time, if they become uncomfortable.

RISK is a 90 minute program conducted by Extension personnel
