What do I want to be when I grow up? How will I pay the bills? What bills will I have? Welcome to the Real World gives participants a glimpse of what happens in the "Real World" and the opportunities and the frustrations that could occur in life.

Where will I live? In a house, will I rent or buy? Will I have to pay the utilities and what about insurance? What am I going to spend on food? Will I have enough for extra money for activities like a movie or eating out?

For some students this is a real eye opening experience and prepares them for the road ahead.

This great experience is offered through the University of Illinois 4-H program personnel. A one day program is conducted in the Spring for all High School Seniors in both Ford & Iroquois County. Each school is contacted and asked to sign up for an assigned time for the day. The youth will be participating in an approximately 60 minute simulation. Teachers are sent a curriculum packet two months in advance to prepare their students for this simulation.
