Services

The U of I Extension Financial Wellness program provides outreach education that includes:

  • One-on-one assistance for students with budgeting, credit issues, and other financial topics such as utilizing job benefits conducted by trained peer educators,
  • Presentations to campus clubs and organizations as well as campus staff,
  • A resource center with helpful financial education materials,
  • Referral to related financial community and University services, and
  • Other creative financial education outreach efforts targeted to students.

All services to students are free.

Students may meet with peer educators by appointment or during office hours. All discussions are confidential. Also, peer educators are available to do presentations to campus clubs and organizations on financial topics such as budgeting and credit management.

Presentations to staff and faculty are taught by University of Illinois Extension Educators. Contact Kathy Sweedler (sweedler@illinois.edu) for more information about topics. A program fee is requested for most presentations.

What We Can't Do

Students with problems that require legal assistance, in-depth counseling, or mediation with business will be referred to appropriate community and university services.
