Many thanks to Rita Kemme and her husband Moe for replacingthe dead trees at the Cross with living and for planting thre Rain Garden-It Looks Wonderful and Bob Schultz is very grateful for all the work the master gardeners have put in. Bob called and wants to know our opinion on where the volunteer bricks should go, so give me a call or better yet come to the next meeting on Tuesday Nov. 13, 2007. We need to finalize our idea for the biblical garden and give it to the Cross Foundation for approval and also run it by Roger Hunt.
Also I would like to thank everyone for pitching in a helping me out this past summer and fall. I've gotten rid of the crutches and I'm getting around much better.

- Brenda Roedl
We met at Lakeland Nursing Center at 6:30 with Steve to view and discuss the areas where they would like some ideas on the landscaping. One of the areas needs drainage that would have to be done first. If you have thoughts bring them to future meetings.
Normalie Strickland called the meeting to order at 7:20 on our return to the Extension from the Lakeland Center. Present were Lyetta Awalt, Larry Johnson, Dorothy Niebrugge, Betty Boos, Leslie Niebrugge, Normalie, Brenda Roedl and Rita Kemme.
Minutes
Minutes of the September meeting were read and approved by Lyetta and seconded by Betty.
Financial
Leslie is attempting to keep the records current and it was discussed that if we have an expense or a donation to keep a record and let her know at the meetings. Sacred Heart gave us a $50.00 donation when Brenda and Rita did the rose program in June. Rita received $25.00 from the Lake Sara Garden Club for doing the rose program for them. This will bring our balance on hand to $2550.43. The Grant monies have a total of $56.00 left after $416.00 was spent at Alwerdt's for trees and perennials for the cross. This will be used for mulch around the perennials. The cross monies are at 901.52 and Brenda will check to see if this total is correct. Betty made a motion to approve and Dorothy seconded. It is attached.
Old Business
Rita had called several of the nurseries and the only one that has cornus mas is Alwerdt's and theirs is not the Cornelian Cherry, but is called Golden Glory. This was in connection to possibly be used at the Lakeland Center. Rita also called Voss Pecans and their crop was nearly all frozen this year, therefore they have nothing to show and tell this fall. Maybe next year.
Lyetta and Marilyn Bennett gave a Fall Gardening presentation to the group at the Centenary Methodist Church. Hyacinth beans were given to all and garlic to plant.
Rita gave the rose program to the Lake Sara Garden Club on September 25th.
Brenda's Notes
Cross: Brenda, Rita and Moe went to Alwerdt's on October 1st, and picked out trees and shrubs and perennials with the grant money to replace some of the trees we lost and also to start a rain garden in the swale area. Rita and Moe planted some of these on the 3rd, and the rest were planted by Brenda, Rita and Moe on the 9th. Rita and Moe are attempting to water all the new plants although everything needs rain. News articles are saying this is one of the worst drought years. Brenda will mulch on the 10th if anyone wants to help.
Office Help: Help is needed to file and record client names.
Jr. Master Gardeners: No report.
October Projects: Mulching on the 10th. HEA tea will be held on the 11th. There will be a variety of craft and food stations. Barb Brayfield will do Dream Pillows and Aromatherapy. Brenda will set up a table for seed tasting, planting seeds in a jell, and a seed display. Betty will try to be at the station to oversee.
