Brenda's Notes
Cross: Brenda, Purnima, and Rita met with Harry Henderson on Jan. 3rd, and reviewed the volunteer hours and the money spent on the trees and mulch. We are way ahead of our commitment for volunteer hours and in kind services. We still have $472.00 to spend of the $2000.00 and Harry asked that we try to do this by April so the monies can be dispersed. He also mentioned a luncheon for all the grantees to be held on March 16th for which we are welcome to attend. This is a Friday. Piping has been done at the cross and hopefully along with the swell, this will solve the water problem. The Teutopolis Press featured an article on the cross on their front page last week and the Master Gardeners were mentioned.
Office: Our first plant problem arrived today. Rita spent time on the 3rd after the meeting and filed all the 2006 client reports and she and Purnima placed new pages in the sign in book. We did not have any one sign up to be a Master Gardener this year with the classed in Charleston. Leslie indicated that she would be able to come in on Thursday for a couple hours and Rita will try to get there too and do some filing.
Jr. Master Gardeners: Tomato plants need to be cleaned up at the nursing home and announcements need to be sent out for new gardeners for this year. Leslie will help with the program. Rita will bring in some tomato seeds that can be started.
New Business
v Election of officers will be held in March.
v Larry donated several tapes to be used for the Jr. Master Gardener program.
v Coming programs: Body Smart in Feb. and also one on Ground Covers. Call Brenda to help. Easy way to get in hours. We have not been contacted by the outdoor group. Scott Waltman of Land O Lakes will do a program for us is we decide.
v Tony Braasch is the new Hort Educator. He will start soon.
v Those present signed their agreements for the coming year.
Next Meeting
Kitty moved for the meeting to be adjourned and Lyetta seconded. The next meeting will be on February 13th.
On February 13th we will say good bye to Kitty and Judy. Please join us for a farewell get together.
