QUILTS & MORE: LaVerne Sherman: Mary Bradham received the haircut given by the Quilts & More unit this past month. The residents there at Oakview love to get their hair done.
WABASH VALLEY ART GUILD: Patti Hanzel: Velma has brought a centerpiece for us to focus on for our dry media art experience. We can take advantage of that or do our own thing. She has also offered us space in her garage for the times that the 4-H or Annex is booked. We are hoping to move into watercolor, oil or acrylics with the nice weather here. Give me a call at 262-7902 if you're interested or call the office at 262-5725 and will let you know when and where. Thanks!
WWDESA: Patti Hanzel: We had Sharon Goodman, from Lifestyles Diabetes Center at our April meetings. She had a good presentation and handed out yellow carry-all bags for all in attendance. We thank Cletus for the refreshments for the night meeting and Mary Ella Peterson was our doorprize winner.
We're glad to have Jennifer Miller, Senior clinical research coordinator from Medisphere of Evansville, IN. coming on Monday, May 18th at 10 a.m. at the 4-H Center. Medisphere is a medical/pharmaceutical and outpatient clinical company, so this is not just for diabetics but open to the public so ALL of our HCE members and the public are invited. The last time we had Covance here, it was very interesting and we had a great crowd for our day meeting. They also gave out some free goodies.
For our evening meeting, we had Dr. Gill scheduled but due to a conflict of dates, he is now coming to speak in Sept. Instead, we are hosting Gerald Brooks, of the Wabash County Health Dept. He's the Coordinator of Emergency Preparedness and the Wabash County Medical Reserve Corp. Again, this meeting isn't just for diabetics. Everyone needs to be prepared for an emergency. Too, with the swine flu breaking out, we need to be informed of what precautions to take and how we can protect ourselves and our loved ones. This will be on Thursday, May 28th, 6:30 p.m. at WGH boardroom. These are two meetings that you won't want to miss, so please join us!
