Volunteer Opportunities

University of Illinois Extension provides practical, research-based information and programs to help individuals, families, farms, businesses and communities in Illinois. Its mission in short, is to help the citizens of Illinois put knowledge to work. The contribution of volunteers in the following areas is essential to the achievement of this mission.

Volunteer opportunities with our office include:

  • 4-H Cloverbud Leader
    Youth ages 5 - 7 years old are involved in the 4-H Cloverbud program. If you would like to start a new Cloverbud group or help with an existing club, please contact us for more information.

  • 4-H Organizational Leader
    Would you like to work with youth ages 8 - 18 years old? Start a 4-H Club in DeWitt County. The 4-H Organizational Leader provides leadership to the club organization, structure and operation and serves as the primary contact for the club.

  • Afterschool Leader
    Looking for a volunteer opportunity after school? We are searching for volunteers to assist with local afterschool program.

  • Extension Council
    The Council serves as an advisory board to Extension staff in determining program efforts.

  • Kids in the Kitchen
    Assist FNP teacher to teach boys and girls food preparation skills. Contact us to discuss how you might get involved.

  • Master Gardeners
    Master Gardeners complete an intensive horticulture course and then provide volunteer service back to their communties through educational and beautification projects.

  • Summer Youth Workshops/Programs
    Teach educational hands-on experiences for youth. Share your expertise/experiences by teaching a class. Contact us to discuss possibilities.

All volunteers working with youth are screened prior to undertaking assignments.
