Master Gardeners
Master Gardeners receive 14 all-day, indepth, training sessions on horticulture in either Effingham or Charleston on Wednesdays from late January through mid April. Evening classes are also offered through Sullivan County, Indiana from early January through mid April. Over 40 Master Gardeners volunteer their time to sponsor bus trips, gardening & landscape conferences, Jr. Master Gardening programs, and beautification projects in our community.
Horticulture & Environment Resources
Southern Illinois Gardeners The Southern Region recently launched the SI Gardening website to provide horticulture information that was specific to the southern third of the state. As you know, there are several excellent gardening websites provided at the state level. But, we often had requests for more localized information and PDF files that could be printed and used as program handouts, or for use at garden centers, as a resource for Master Gardeners, etc.
SI Gardening includes sections on ornamentals, fruits and vegetables, pests and diseases, and even a section for commercial growers. Additional content will be added as it is developed by educators.
