Weed Management in Pastures Workshop, Sept. 11, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 11, 2008

Do you know what plants are in your pastures? Weeds can rob you of potential forage for your horses. No matter how big or small your pastures are, it's wise to regularly evaluate them. Fall is a good time to control many of the typical weeds found in pastures. A "Weed Management in Pastures Workshop" is planned for September 11, 2008 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at the Lockwood Park, Rockford Park District.

Topics will include: Identifying weeds, toxic plants, weed control options, and using herbicides safely. The workshop will focus on general management principles. Pre-registration fee of $15 per adult and $5 per child is due by September 5, 2008. Late registration fees are $25 per person, if postmarked after September 5, 2008.

To register, contact the Lockwood Park, Rockford Park District,

5201 Safford Road, Rockford, IL 61101 (815) 987-8877. Or download a flyer at http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/countrysidecenter/downloads/10681.pdf For more information about the workshop, contact University of Illinois Extension, Ellen Phillips, Extension Educator, 708-352-0109, ephillps@uiuc.edu.
