  • Disabilities: Employment & Education Services for Individuals with Disabilities
    DHS' Division of Rehabilitation Services is the state's lead agency serving individuals with disabilities. DRS works in partnership with people with disabilities and their families to assist them in making informed choices to achieve full community participation through employment, education, and independent living opportunities.

    Critical Skills Shortages Initiatitve (CSSI) Healthcare Industry Pilot Project 1. Employers will understand the business benefits of hiring qualified people with disabilities and will gain access to a large pool of productive and diverse employees. 2. People with disabilities will have access to job opportunities and choices for full inclusion and speacialized services. 3. Providers will operate as a resource to employers with disabilities, training people with disabilities and referring them to the right jobs.

  • Employment Services for Ex-Offenders: City of Chicago
    Mayor Daley's WorkNet Chicago is committed to helping ex-offenders re-enter the workforce. The selected WorkNet partners listed below have experience working with ex-offenders in programs and other supportive services that help develop the skills needed to achieve self-sufficiency.   • Employment Services for Outside of Chicago
    The programs and services of the Mayor's Office of Workforce Development and Mayor Daley's WorkNet Chicago are only available to residents and businesses within the City of Chicago. However, neighboring communities, cities and counties have their own workforce development programs, services sites, and workforce centers. Listed below are service locations outside of the city limits, but still in the Greater Chicago region.

  • Ex-Offenders: State of Illinois Resources for Ex-Offenders
    This website was created by the Illinois Department of Employment Security and the Chicago Jobs Council as a project of the Governor's Working Group on Community Safety and Re-entry to bring together the growing body of workforce resources available to those who assist ex-offenders.

  • Health Care Worker Registery for Illinois
    The Health Care Worker Registry lists individuals with a background check conducted pursuant to the Health Care Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46). It shows training information for certified nursing assistants (CNA) and other health care workers. Additionally, it displays administrative findings of abuse, neglect or misappropriations of property. It is maintained by the Department of Public Health.   • Industrial Training: Environmental
    The Environmental Safety Technician and the Industrial Labor Technician are WIA/POET Approved Programs - tuition paid through workforce funds for those meeting eligibility.

  • Job Seekers: Workforce Preparedness (WIA) Programs and Services
    The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) combines federally-funded job training programs in Illinois into a "workforce development" system where individuals can find a job or train for a new career. Services are available for no out of pocket cost to job seekers.

  • Training: Workforce Investment Act certified providers and programs
    Illinois' statewide list of WIA-certified training programs These programs are certified to provide education and training to adults and dislocated workers who have been awarded vouchers under the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA). The statewide list of WIA-certified training programs includes a variety of classroom, apprenticeship and Internet-based training offered by community colleges, public universities, labor unions, businesses, and other schools.
