Yvonne Brown is the Associate Director of Cook County Extension. She has been with Extension since 1994, previously as the North Suburban Cook County Unit Leader. As Unit Leader, she coordinated the consumer, nutrition, and family life programs and has assisted with 4-H volunteer management. Currently, she is responsible for personnel and facility management in the Cook County Unit. The Cook County Unit has nearly 100 employees and 11 offices and Brown provides leadership in the areas of office budget management, program planning and evaluation as well as keeping stakeholders informed within the county.

Prior to coming to Extension, Brown was a program director for Family Rescue, a domestic violence agency, where she was involved in individual/group counseling, support group coordination, and staff training and management.

Brown's areas of interest include domestic violence education, cultural and ethnic issues in domestic violence services, résumé writing for youth, and youth leadership skills.

Brown graduated from the Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in home economics with a major in consumer affairs and a minor in business administration. She earned her master's degree in home economics with an emphasis on family services.
