Shelley Hoyt Anderson

Extension Unit Educator, Economic Development

Ms. Hoyt Anderson earned her M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and her bachelor's degree in government from Harvard University. She has an extensive background in the financial services industry including credit process review and commercial real estate and community development lending.

Proficient in both Spanish and French, Shelley has served on the boards of many civic organizations throughout the Chicago area. Her previous experiences have been with the Shorebank Neighborhood Institute (SNI) and the Community Banking Group at JP Morgan Chase (legacy First Chicago Bank).

Offering"Shaping a Local and Global Economy (SAGE)", an economic and financial educational series to community-based partners, Ms. Hoyt Anderson empowers Cook County citizens and businesses to successfully shape and direct their financial future.*

Program Offerings

"Shaping a Local and Global Economy (SAGE)" programs offer economic and financial education and information, which empowers Cook County citizens and businesses to successfully shape and direct their financial future.

The SAGE Newsletter instructs entrepreneurs, small to medium-sized businesses and organizations about entering the global market. Newsletter topics include: Events, facts and people to know in the global arena; Using government and business resources to take your business into international trade; and success stories, featuring Chicagoland organizations in the world economy.

The Business Tools for a Step Up in the Local Economy series offers start-up enterprises an overview of smart business practices and resources, including: SBA Financial Products & Services to start and grow your business; Writing Your Business Plan; Grant Writing Basics for social entrepreneurs and, Franchises Formulas,the pros and cons of buying and running a franchise.

The Your Money, Your Power* series covers: Protecting Your Money - how to use different types of financial services; What's in Your Credit Report -how to improve and maintain a good credit history; and, Borrowing Basics - how to use of credit cards, mortgages and personal loans.

Su Dinero, Su Poder* (clases en Espanol). El programa ofrece recursos y conocimientos para que los participantes tomen buenas decisiones financieras, lo cual aumenta su competitividad y exito economico. Las clases son: Protegiendo Su Dinero; Lo Que Contiene Su Reporte de Credito y Su Historial Financiero; y, Lo Basico sobre Prestamos y Tarjetas de Credito.
