Rosalind Dale is the Cook County District Coordinator for Chicago. She began her career with Extension in 1994. Since that time, she has held several positions with several programs, including the Changing the Faces of Homelessness Program, Teen REACH program, Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and Family Nutrition Program (FNP). Throughout the years she has been involved with program planning, delivery, and evaluation; hiring, supervising and training paraprofessional staff; and managing and securing resources for Chicago and Cook County.
As a District Coordinator, Ms. Dale is responsible for providing leadership for the district as related to program planning, delivery and evaluation. In addition, she is responsible for working with key stakeholders to identify the needs of residents within the district; marketing programs and informing the public about Extension's mission and local program efforts; managing and securing resources to support local programming; and providing support and direction to the district advisory committee.
Dale also provides leadership for Cook County's Family Nutrition Program. The Family Nutrition Program (FNP) program is a federally funded program that provides nutrition education for persons eligible to receive benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [(SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program). The program is designed to help these individuals learn ways of using their benefits and limited income to purchase healthy foods for themselves and their families.
She is interested in ensuring the needs of the communities in her district are met. She believes that Extension programs will have a positive effect on the lives of individuals within these communities. In addition, she is a strong proponent of empowering individuals and families with the knowledge and skills they need to select and maintain proper nutrition and lifestyle practices. She believes nutrition education positively impacts lives, thereby hopefully decreasing the risks involved with chronic diseases.
She has earned a doctorate degree in adult and continuing education from National-Louis University, a master's degree in human services administration from Spertus College, a bachelor's degree in home economics from Western Illinois University and a bachelor's degree in nutrition from Benedictine University.
Prior to joining Extension, she worked in managerial positions within institutional and retail food service. Dale is a lifelong south suburban resident. In her free time, she enjoys fine dining, watching cooking programs, going to the movies and listening to music.
