Laurinda Dodgen has extensive experience in working in partnership with a variety of target populations to address public health needs. Her last position was as Project Coordinator for Health Disparities at the National Center for Rural Health Professionals (NCRHP). At the NCRHP her work included development of a health professions camp for rural high school students. Her background includes: teaching HIV/AIDS education, asthma education, exercise benefits for older adults, research on obesity risk in elementary-school children, and workshops in corporate wellness. She is well-versed in issues of cultural sensitivity in targeting hard-to-reach populations and has provided workshops for the Northern Illinois Diabetes Coalition.
Dodgen earned her B.S. in Kinesiology and her Master's in Public Health at Northern Illinois University. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer and licensed in the State of Illinois. She is affiliated with numerous public service organizations, volunteer's time to work with non-profit agencies, works with several universities, and serves on the Board of Carpenters Place, a homeless day center in Rockford, IL. |
