Anne Gachuhi has more than 15 years of experience planning, implementing, delivering and evaluating horticultural educational programs through public outreach and the Extension Service. She will be involved in the development and delivery of horticultural educational programs such as landscape design (residential and public spaces), youth gardening (in schools, after school and summer programs), providing technical support and expertise to the urban gardening/beautification and greening program, as well as supporting community gardening.
Gachuhi hopes to collaborate with the green industry and other community organizations involved in horticulture and urban greening. She believes that gardening is not only the most popular pastime in the U.S. today, but that consumer demand for horticultural crops and services has made horticulture one of the fastest growing segments of U.S. agriculture. Her programs will address further the public's need for educational resources that will help improve the quality of their homes as well as their businesses.
Gachuhi is fluent in several languages including Swahili. She earned her master's degree in horticulture from Wageningen Agricultural University in Holland, and her bachelor's degree in horticulture from Egerton University in Kenya.
