The 87th & Cottage Grove - TIF Advisory Council
To improve the physical appearance and economic viability of Cottage Grove Avenue from 71st Street to 95th Street and 79th Street from King Drive to South Chicago Avenue. Additionally, our charter is to create a useable model for community-based administration of a TIF from conception to completion.
The 87th & Cottage Grove TIF Advisory Council voted to take leadership in conducting a survey of the businesses located within the 87th & Cottage Grove TIF Business District. The purpose of the survey is to obtain valuable information related to the current and future needs of businesses within the TIF District.
Survey Goals have been identified as the following:
Serve as a means to increase contact with TIF district businesses
Create awareness of the TIF program and all related initiatives that could benefit business growth and sustainability.
Identify current and future training needs for owners and their employees
Gather information related to area business plans for growth, succession, or relocation.
Obtain input from businesses regarding the current climate of business
Receive input from businesses regarding their perception of the community
The Survey Questions will cover the following areas:
Business information (name, location, type of business)
Access and usage of city, state, and federal initiatives
Retention and expansion plans
Training and Recruitment needs
Technology needs
General Opinions (prospects for business, community, etc.)
Implementation Plan: University of Illinois Extension will facilitate the management of the business survey. With input from the Council, Extension will produce the survey design, data input and analysis and provide a final report.
The Chesterfield Tom Thumb Day Care Center will provide supportive services and resources and Chicago State University students will distribute and collect the surveys through a college internship project.
Survey Results: Upon approval by the Council, the survey report will be provided publicly to the Council, elected officials, newspapers, chambers and other key stakeholders.
Timeline: The survey will be developed December 2005 and distributed to targeted business in Jan/Feb of 2006. The final survey report will be available Spring 2006.
