Listing of Immigration and Immigrant Integration Courses offered by UIUC Extension in Cook County
The University of Illinois Extension helps people improve their lives and communities through community based educational programs including classes, workshops, and even train-the-trainer programs, where we teach the staff of service organizations so they can in turn help others. In this way, University of Illinois Extension in Cook County is improving the lives and communities of youth and adults.
In January 2006, Extension started a new program for the 21st century to help people all over our county get ready for the challenges we face as a global community. One of our exciting new directions is classes about immigration and programs which help immigrants with the information they need as they adjust to life in the United States. We also offer programs for community leaders, the staffs of community and other organizations, as well as school and local government officials.
Our audiences include:
Adult Immigrants
School Children
The staff of immigrant and other service organizations
College and University staff and students
The Business Community
Government and Civic Leaders
Many of these classes and programs are free to attendees, and are offered right in your community. For example, we are currently teaching classes at San Miguel in the Back of the Yards Neighborhood, at the Humboldt Park Library, at Chicago Public Schools, and in China Town. We have also offered classes in Cicero, Maywood, Bridgeview, Mt. Prospect, Ravenswood, Albany Park, and elsewhere. If we are not yet offering programs in your neighborhood, contact us and we will try to make arrangements to come soon!
Here are some of the great classes we offer. Contact us if you would like to arrange one for your community or organization, or to attend one:
