Teach Kids Gardening Basics
Parenthesis, a non-profit organizations that has promotes better parenting skills with its programs would like to have a quarterly program at the Oak Park Conservatory to teach children aged 3-5 some basics in gardening.
They need two Master Gardeners for this; the Master Gardeners would have to develop the program andwould work directly with the Parenthesis director, Marilyn Strezak.
There would be 10-12 parents and 17-18 children at each quarterly program.
Parenthesis would like the first program to be held on July 31st. Typically Parenthesis has dinner from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. and the program would be immediately after dinner.
The Oak Park Conservatory would provide pots, potting soil, seeds, etc. The program could be pretty basic (planting a few seeds in a pot and showing the children how to make them grow). Parenthesis would like a seasonal theme, but the volunteers will have a free rein in designing the program.
