Sharon Kuhns isCounty Extension Directorfor University of Illinois Extension in Coles County.
She provides leadership for Coles County Extension programs in four broad areas: nutrition, family and consumer sciences; agriculture and natural resources; community and economic development; and 4-H/youth development. As unit leader, Kuhns' major focus is marketing, coordinating, and evaluating Extension programs. She also networks with other community resources and is responsible for fiscal and facility management.
She received her master of education degree in educational organization and leadership from University of Illinois. Her bachelor's degree, also received from University of Illinois, was in home economics.
Kuhns began work with the Illinois Cooperative Extension Service in 1972 in Henry County as the assistant home economics adviser. She returned to the Cooperative Extension Service in 1984 and served as 4-H youth adviser in Coles County, and family life educator in the Moultrie/Douglas Extension unit. She rejoined the Coles County Unit in September 1997.
Kuhn's professional affiliations include Epsilon Sigma Phi and the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences.
