We are already having enrollments for this year start to come in. The database has been updated, finally so we are all set there. If you bring in enrollments/program fees for your members please give them to Barb Glaub at the front desk.
If your club has not picked up enrollment information please contact me ASAP.
I have heard from several clubs that have gained new members this year. Good for you!!! Club enrollment tends to go in cycles, we have held steady here for a few years now. Maybe we are on another upswing. If you need more copies of anything please let me know and we will get it to you.
And don't forget we will make black and white copies of fliers or meeting materials for you at no charge, we just need to have a few days advance notice.
The Veteran's Day Parade this year will be held in Breese. Clinton County 4-H has an entry coordinated by several of our 4-H Leaders.
All 4-H Members, Leaders, and parents who are available are encouraged to participate.
Parade line up is at 2 p.m. at the Breese American Legion. The parade will start at 2:30 p.m. and will travel on Main Street, beginning in front of the American Legion, South to the railroad tracks, West one block, and then back North up Clinton Street until either North Sixth or North Seventh Street.
We will need members who have black or white gloves to help carry a large display flag, a trailer or wagon to use as a float, and a vehicle to pull it plus any and all available members and parents to walk along.
This information will be in the next 4-H newsletter, if you have any contact with your members before November 5 please encourage them to participate.
Anyone who can help with any of the things listed above should call the Extension Office at 526-4551 ASAP.
Achievement Program Nov 20
We are getting calls in for the Achievement Program on Nov 20. Yes I do realize that is hunting season, but scheduling being what it is that was our best option.
Dinner will be at 6:30 with awards to follow. If any members should ask, please remind them that they are welcome to come even if they did not turn in award applications. Watching their friends get awards might be a great way to encourage them to give it a try next year.
I will hold the club scrapbooks until the Achievement Program unless you really need it sooner. I would like to set them on a display table so everyone can take a look. They all look so nice, this is a chance to show them off.
The next Clinton County 4-H Federation meeting will be Oct 27th at 7 p.m. at Breese Northside Park. Members will elect officers at this meeting.
Federation is open to all members in the 8th grade and older. If you have members who are interested in running for an office but will not be able to attend the October meeting please ask them to let me know. We will definitely include them in the elections even if they are not there.
Because of the timing of the Achievement Program there will not be a November Federation meeting. The date for the December meeting will be set at the October meeting.
There is a leader's training on November 5th at 6:30 at the Extension Office. The training will be led by Youth Educator Steve Waggoner from the Edwardsville Center.
This training will focus on working with youth, and positive youth development. It would be helpful to anyone who volunteers with different youth organizations. It is open to all 4-H leaders, Jr. Leaders, and 4-H parents. Clubs should plan on having at least one leader in attendance.
Please call the office in advance to register by October 30, 526-4551.
Extension is hosting a free Internet Safety Presentation for parents on November 12, 2009. It will be held at the Extension Office 1163 N. 4th St Breese at 7:00 p.m. Illinois State Police Trooper, Ralph Timmons will be presenting.
Trooper Timmons will show parents how to set up a MySpace and Facebook account in order to monitor their child's activities; the dangers of gaming, web cams, and sharing too much information; identity theft; predators and pedophiles on the internet.
To register or for more information about this presentation call 526-4551 Registration deadline is November 2, 2009
Also please remind members that there are two Food and Nutrition Workshops coming up in December. Details were in the last newsletter and will also be included in next newsletter due out later this month.
