Extension Council

The Clinton County Extension Council is an advisory board consisting of Clinton County residents. Members represent diverse interests in the county including agriculture, horticulture, education, finance, business, food, nutrition & wellness, and many more. The purpose of the Council is to serve as an advisory body. Members assist Extension staff in planning, promoting, developing, implementing, and evaluating Extension programs designed to meet the needs, interests and resources of the community.

Council Member Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting program/audience priorities
  • Provide for involvement of local people in the development of programs that help people in targeted groups achieve their objectives
  • Help with program delivery and program evaluation
  • Recruit possible resources – financial and human
  • Serve as a formal liaison between the public and Extension
  • Help determine committee structure needed to develop and deliver Extension education in the local Unit

University of Illinois Extension Council for Clinton County meets quarterly at the Extension office on the second Monday of the designated month.

Clinton County Extension Council Minutes May 11, 2009

Chairman Jerry Albers called the meeting to order.

Roll call was of members was taken with Jerry Albers, Tom James, Tammy Kuper, Leslie Taylor, Karen Schumacher, Jen Heinzmann, Toots Tebbe, Jerome Ripperda, and LaDean Scheurer all present.

The minutes of the last meeting were read. Motion to accept the minutes was made by Toots Tebbe, seconded by Karen Schumacher. Motion carried.

The Financial report was read and discussed with no changes. Motion to accept the financial report by
Tom James with a second by Karen Schumacher. Motion carried. The Proposed FY 10 Budget was reviewed and discussed. Motion was made by Toots Tebbe and seconded by Tom James to approve the budget as written. Motion carried.

Old Business

Substantial time was spent reviewing the conditions of the $20 4-H Program Fee. It was decided that $10 of the fee will be paid through available resources and the member will pay the additional $10. A maximum family plan of $30 will be enforced, with $10 each for the first and second children and $5 each for the third and fourth children of a family. The motion was made by Toots Tebbe and seconded by Karen Schumacher. Motion carried.

New Business

Under the topic of Council Nominations, Jerome Ripperda, Tammy Kuper, and Tom James all accepted another 2-year council term. LaDean will call Steve Klostermann and Ruth Ann Spihlman about another possible term. Those finishing their second term are Jeff Kleiboeker, Toots Tebbe, Deb Schaubert, Larry Boyd, and Jerry Albers. Several names were discussed as possible replacements. Additional names must be given to LaDean within the month, and she will make the necessary contacts.

In the area of personnel, the need may exist to hire 1 part-time help person to work the day camps this summer. This is only if not enough volunteers step forward.

Activities led by county office staff occurring from February to April were reviewed and discussed.

Chairman Jerry Albers reported on the Regional Advisory and Clinton-Bond County joint Extension Council meeting.

Tom James made a motion to adjourn. Toots Tebbe seconded it. Motion carried.

The next meeting will be August 10th at 7:00.
