Annual 4-H Achievement Program
By now you have gotten the invitation in the mail to the Annual Achievement Program. Reservations are being taken now so please call in right away if you plan to attend.
The dinner and awards program is open to all members and their families. That's right, even members who did not turn in award applications or members who joined this fall.
The Achievement Program is a great chance to visit with members from other clubs, encourage and support friends, and learn about awards and activities.
If you did turn in award applications please make an effort to attend, but keep in mind that not everyone wins. Everyone does get a completion certificate for their award applications.
In addition to dinner and awards, the new federation officers will be installed and everyone will get a chance to watch the 2008-2009 4-H Year in Pictures video.
Members who attended camps or conferences last year will be asked to talk about their experience, and you might see some samples of 4-H projects too.
The Veteran's Day Parade this year will be held in Breese. Clinton County 4-H has an entry coordinated by several of our 4-H Leaders.
All 4-H Members, Leaders, and parents who are available are encouraged to participate.
Parade line up is at 2 p.m. at the Breese American Legion.
We will need members who have black or white gloves to help carry a large display flag, a trailer or wagon to use as a float, and a vehicle to pull it plus any and all available members and parents to walk along. We would also encourage participants to wear a 4-H shirt if possible.
Anyone who can help carry the flag, provide a wagon for the float, a vehicle to pull it or wants to walk with the group should call the Extension Office at 526-4551 ASAP.
Come out with us to honor our veterans!
There is a leader's training on November 5th at 6:30 at the Extension Office. The training will be led by Youth Educator Steve Waggoner from the Edwardsville Center.
This training will focus on working with youth, and positive youth development.
It would be helpful to anyone who volunteers with different youth organizations. This program is open to all 4-H leaders, Jr. Leaders, and 4-H parents. Clubs should plan on having at least one leader in attendance.
Please call the office in advance to register by October 30, 526-4551.
As you plan your 4-H projects and activities for this year, now is a great time to write to local legislators and thank them for their continuing support of the 4-H program. If you are a new member you can share why you chose to join, or what you are looking forward to. If you are a re-enrolling member you can share photos and stories from previous 4-H activities. Parents and leaders are also encouraged to write to legislators letting them know about the benefits of 4-H membership. If you have any questions please contact Elaine at 526-4551.
