12th Annual Horse Camp Great Fun

I just returned from a great day at "Horse Camp." The day began with a lesson on horse roping. Once everyone practiced, there was a friendly competition. The JOHNNY CASH team came in first. It was one exciting event. Next was lunch on the trail. There were a few spills and one pony who had to swim...but everyone returned unharmed and no worse for the wear. While everyone was gone, Jana planned a treasure hunt. Each team had to look for clues in the strangest places. It was a mounted event so everyone had to work together. This event changed the team standings. Not to fear though, there are lots of games left for tonight. Supper tonight was "Kid's Cook" night. Tia's dad Darrell started the grill and the food smelled delicious. Jacquie came just in time with all the side dishes and some pie for dessert. Yum Yum.

Thanks to the Ridge Rider's Club members for leading the trail. A special thank you to newcomer Steve Lewis. You and your family are a welcome addition to camp. I would also like to welcome new campers from Lawrence/Richland unit.

I headed for home just before supper. The day just flew by. Before I left I asked a group of campers what they liked the best. One liked the trails, one liked making new friends, and one liked getting wet! It's no doubt that Horse Camp has something for everyone.

Look for a camp survey and pictures on the web. I welcome feedback and suggestions so Camp continues to be a great experience for kids who love horses.------Ginger
