Club Reports

Go-Getters, New Vision, Edinburg Warriors, and Blue Ribbon

The Go-Getters 4-H club held their regular monthly meeting on September 8, 2009. The meeting was called to order by Daniel Cornell, past-president, and Sandy Cornell prayed. Hannah Cornell and Logan Sarginson led the pledges. Hannah and Daniel Cornell presented a duo public speaking presentation entitled "What 4-H Means to Me" and "How to Give a Good Talk". Logan Sarginson, past-treasurer, gave the treasurer's report. Hannah Cornell, past-secretary, took roll call and presented the minutes of the last meeting. They were approved as read. New business began with elections for the new year. The results are as follows: President - Hannah Cornell; Vice-President - Shelby Sarginson; Minutes Secretary - Anna Burch; Recording Secretary - Megan Peterson; Treasurer -Logan Sarginson; Reporter - Anna Burch; Photographer - Daniel Cornell; Historian - David Bruns; Refreshment Chairman – Madison Owen; and Recreation Chairman – Cole Sarginson.

For leader's reports, Mrs. Cornell told us that since most of the club is new to 4-H this year, we should look around the county during 4-H week (Oct. 4-10) and get ideas for a display we could do next year. She also invited us to attend the Achievement Night potluck and awards dinner on October 9 at the Extension office.

The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served. Adults discussed project sign-up and future meeting locations while Logan Sarginson led us in some games. Submitted by Club Reporter, Anna Burch.

The New Vision 4-H club held its first meeting on October 20th at the University of Illinois Extension office in Taylorville. Folders, records, and project books were handed out. The officers for this year were elected. The new officers are: President, Amy Heberling; Vice-President,Reed Heberling; Secretary, Ben Robinson; Treasurer, Zach Lloyd; Reporter, Eric Whitaker; Historian, Olivia Helton; and Photographer, Brooke Bates. After electing the officers we signed up for committees and then split into groups to talk about what we want to accomplish this year. Our next meeting will be on November 17th at the Extension office in Taylorville. Submitted by Club Reporter, Eric Whitaker.

The Edinburg 4-H Warriors held their meeting on October 18th at the Yoder's house. There were 15 members present. We elected two junior leaders: Adam Yoder and Caleb Roethemeyer. The club tied for second on our window display and recognized Alec Myers for the award he received at 4-H Achievement Night. Brian, Kyle, and Adam Yoder all did talk and demonstrations. After the meeting, the club had a wiener roast. The next meeting is November 8th at The United Methodist Church in Edinburg at 4:00 p.m. All members need to bring a food drive item. The Blue Ribbon 4-H Club held their meeting on October 18, 2009 at the University of Illinois Extension office in Taylorville. The club officers elected are: President—Rachel Livingston, Vice-President— Kyle Hadden, Secretary—Rebecca Livingston, Reporter -Andrew Livingston, Treasurer -Tamar Adcock.

No talks were given at the meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for November 8, 2009 at the Extension office at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by Lauren Adcock and family. Talks for the November meeting were assigned for Lauren Adcock, Tamar Adcock, Kyle Hadden, and Katlyin Hadden. The a motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Andrew Livingston and a second was given by Caitlin Hadden. Submitted by Rebecca Livingston.
