Focus on Character CD includes 4-H
Focus on Character for 4-H clubs and Focus
on Character for youth
groups that includes the same content without the 4-H references.
Both of these versions are available in English and Spanish
on this CD. Each set includes a leader guide with eight meeting
plans for introducing important character traits. The meeting
plans were developed around the Josephson Institute of Ethics’
Six Pillars of Charactersm: Trustworthiness, Respect,
Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. There are
also meeting plans for Welcome to Character and Decision Making.
Each meeting plan gives background on the topic of the lesson,
a tie between the topic and life skills, roll call ideas, group
activities to introduce the topic, recreation suggestions, relationships
between the topic and 4-H projects and activities (4-H version
only), community service ideas, a challenge, a quotation, a
calendar, a family piece to send home, a news release and a
newsletter article. Files may be printed for duplication for
all 4-H clubs and youth groups wanting to use Focus
on Character.
Support materials include a promotional brochure, an evaluation
tool, and character-related ceremonies. All files are PDF except
the Powerpoint slide presentation and Microsoft Word Lesson
Plan for training purposes. To order send a check payable to
the University of Illinois for $40.00 to State 4-H Office,
