Kathy Sweedler

Extension Educator, Consumer and Family Economics

Kathy Sweedler is an Extension Educator in Consumer and Family Economics. She has a Master of Science in Consumer Education from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from University of California at Davis. Kathy develops new and unique methods of providing financial and consumer information to people, including web-based education programs. Recent projects include coordinating the development and writing sections of the website Plan Well, Retire Well: Your how-to guide www.RetireWell.uiuc.edu (for young adults), co-coordinating the Your Money & Your Life curriculum designed for limited-resource audiences, and initiating the adventure-style book, Cool Cash Adventure, for middle-school youth. Kathy is currently working with a group of Extension educators to develop a new website on planning for long-term care. While she provides programming in many areas, she is passionate about helping people plan for financial security in later life.
