Cammy Seguin is an Extension Educator, Family Life with University of Illinois Extension. She works with individuals and groups in East-Central Illinois to improve the quality of life through the lifespan. Seguin specializes in adult development and family transitions.
She received a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington and a master's degree in Extension Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She also completed a geriatrics certificate program for non-physicians at the University of Illinois.
Seguin is a member of the American Society on Aging, the National and Illinois Council on Family Relations, the National and Illinois Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, and Epsilon Sigma Phi.
Prior to becoming an Extension Educator in Family Life, Seguin served as an Extension Adviser, Home Economics in Douglas County.
Retirement Realities: Adjust or Bust! Most retirement programs focus on financial issues, but this one covers lifestyle and relationship changes that occur during retirement and how to plan ahead to make the process go more smoothly. Allow 1-1 ½ hours for the program.
Fostering Creativity in Yourself and Others. All people have the potential to be creative. This program will help you become inspired to use creative solutions to problems and to help others do the same. Allow 1 -1 ½ hours for the program.
Caregiving Relationships For People Who Care For Adults. According to a recent survey from the National Family Caregivers Association, 54 million Americans were caregivers for an elderly, disabled or chronically ill friend or relative in 2000. The six components of this program will provide methods to manage stress, cope with loss, and handle emotions in positive ways. Allow a minimum of 1 hour for the program emphasis you select.
Intentional Harmony: Balancing Work and Life. This program is designed to meet the needs of all individuals who are employed and struggle to create harmony between work and their personal life. The curriculum is organized into 6 different workshops, 1 to 2 hours each. Topics focus on work and you, your partner, parenting, stress, and extended family and friends.
Building Bridges Across the Generation Gaps. The program discusses the perspectives of four different living generations and address ways to communicate effectively in order to build bridges across the misunderstandings. Allow 1-1 ½ hours for the program.
Building a Better Memory. The program will examine the memory process, discuss normal memory changes as they age, and provide some strategies and techniques for improving your memory. Allow 45 minutes to an hour for the program.
Reducing Personal Stress and Job Burnout. Several programs are available on this topic for a variety of audiences including workers, child care providers, and individuals. Programs range from 45 minutes to 1+ hours.
Building Character in the Home–Laying the Foundation. Raising children can require tremendous courage in our complex world. We want our children to become caring, friendly, trustworthy, and responsible adults and at the same time, know that what they do really matters. During this program, parents will understand the importance of loving children in a caring environment and how setting and enforcing appropriate limits will help children prosper. Allow about 1 hour for the program.
