Welcome to Moon Walk, a 10-week "race to the moon" sponsored by University of Illinois Extension, Champaign County to encourage people to walk more and reap the related health benefits. The City of Peoria challenged Champaign County residents to participate in Moon Walk. This is a competitive and fun way to get healthy. To accomplish our mission to the moon, we are organizing teams of people throughout Champaign County to track their steps for a common goal.

The 2009 race ended June 12.

Why Participate?

It's great for your health and a fun way to engage with family, friends and co-workers. Rally with Champaign County residents and beat Peoria to the moon!! Let's show Peoria who's the better walking community! The first 50 kids (12 and under) to sign up receive a pedometer!

To Your Health!

Moon Walk encourages individuals to make walking a part of their daily lives. It is based on research that shows walking just 30 minutes a day five or more days a week can help prevent, arrest and reverse major health issues like obesity, heart disease, hypertension, Type II diabetes and depression.

Thank you Provena Covenant Medical Center for their pedometer donation!
