Reflections from the Garden
Champaign Master Gardener tends the Idea Garden.
Gardeners are a generous breed. They delight in giving, receiving, trading and swapping--from seeds, cuttings and compost to sage advice and planting stories. They're also lifelong learners. Each year brings new varieties and more challenges. Becoming a Master Gardener provides an opportunity for you to expand your horticultural horizons and to share your passion for gardening with others. It's an experience that's both informative and fun!
"Even though I have gardened for many years and in many settings, I found I learned something I could use at nearly every session and meeting. My fellow gardeners are a constant source of information."
--Philip Dziuk, Master Gardener '96
"I have enjoyed working with other Master Gardeners and participating in the development of the Idea Garden. Since completing Master Gardener training, my home garden has expanded from lawn and gourds to a shade garden, perennial border and greenhouse projects. The MG program has been berry, berry good to me."
--Ernest Landrum Young, Master Gardener '99
"It's important to learn to sharpen your mind before you learn to sharpen a shovel. A gardener's best tool is a good collection of reference books."
--Toni Pitts, Master Gardener '01
"Learning about plants and sharing knowledge with others has become a way of life for me."
