The Illinois 4-H / Ukraine Exchange Program is an exchange between Illinois 4-H teens, collegiate 4-H and the Pedagogical Institute of Poltava, Ukraine. The idea for the program came after the University of Illinois Extension, Champaign County Youth Development Educator visited Poltava, Ukraine in April of 2007.
The goal of the Exchange Program is
- Serve as an inter-cultural opportunity for Ukrainian and U.S. students
- Facilitate the understanding of youth leadership roles and programs in the United States
- Aim to create the mutual understanding among the American and Ukrainian students
Students participating in the project communicate via Skype and a webcam. The project is taking place between September and December 2007.
Above are pictures of the east central Illinois young people participating in this exchange. Also are maps of the Ukriane and the United States.
