What's Happening?

Soon you will be receiving in the mail a packet "Record Book Completion. " Open this immediately.

  • The first thing to review is the Illinois 4-H Club/Group Report. In the past, several clubs have been awarded this state recognition. A maximum of three awards per category are presented statewide! Champaign County has the finest clubs in the State of Illinois. Please take the time to complete this application. In order for the County Office to file this in a timely manner with the State 4-H Office, the completed report must be in our hands by August 8.
  • August 27 is the official Record Turn In Day! Again we will offer convenient hours: 7 – 10 a.m. and evening 5 – 7:30 p.m. EVERTHING is due including Financial Reports/Treasury Books. There will be no exceptions. Carefully review the Record Book Completion Bulletin and call with any questions.
  • All Champaign County 4-H members are strongly encouraged to establish and maintain a personal 4-H record book. Members who complete their records work very hard and are proud of their accomplishment. In order for their achievements to be acknowledged, we need volunteers to review and grade their record books. The County Office would like to challenge each club to provide a minimum of two volunteers to achieve the mammoth task. Grading will be conducted on September 3 in the Auditorium beginning at 6 p.m. Not only will there be record books, many other awards need to be evaluated. It's an awesome experience! Contact Kathy with the names of your volunteers.

Now for Some Fun!

Summer is in full swing and what better way to celebrate summer than with a little baseball and a Family 4-H Night with the Peoria Chiefs! Click here for the flyer and here for the order form.

We still have Summer Shows happening. Please support the 4-H Dog Show, July 14 beginning at 6 p.m. in the UI Stock Pavilion and the Eastern Prairie 4-H Livestock Expo on July 24 beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Champaign County Extension Update

Thank you to members, families, and leaders for all the letters and emails to our state legislators this past spring. We are planning a full, fun-filled, educational 4-H year for Champaign County Youth. BUT, we need everyone's continued help and support. August 1, the office will support only two secretaries. Please be considerate when you request materials. Give Jo at least a two day notice either by email or phone.

We think our volunteers are very special, dedicated people. We encourage all leaders to complete their Valued Volunteer training and attend leader's meetings regularly. We will continue to email information to Organizational Leaders. We are depending on the Organizational Leaders to disseminate the information to club members and families. Please encourage your 4-H families to check the 4-H website periodically for new information. With continued cooperation and communications, we can make this work – Make the Best Better!
