Function of Job
The Visiting Extension Outreach Assistant will support the work of the Extension Specialist, Marketing and Business Development and Illinois Master Naturalist Coordinator to implement entrepreneurial sustainability programs, such as Market Maker, Going Solo and Illinois Master Naturalist. Some travel maybe required. This is a temporary, full-time, academic professional position. This position may become regular at a later time dependent upon funding and programmatic needs.
Organizational Relationship
The Visiting Extension Outreach Assistant is administratively and programmatically responsible to the State Extension Specialist, Business Development and State Illinois Master Naturalist Coordinator located in the Quad Cities Extension Center.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Visiting Extension Outreach Assistant will have direct responsibilities in the following areas:
- Assist in the development and delivery of Market Maker, Going Solo and Illinois Master Naturalist programs, including staff/volunteer trainings and web based delivery systems.
- Organize and prepare program events, such as trainings, professional development and conferences.
- Assist in conducting surveys and investigations of the needs of the individuals to be served and program impacts.
- Assist in establishing new activities and services as needed.
- Prepare, maintain and update necessary records, reports and impact summaries.
- Assist in the preparation and management of programmatic databases.
- Develop working relationships with Extension Educators, program coordinators, secretaries, University personnel to achieve defined goals and objectives of Market Maker, Going Solo and Illinois Master Naturalist programs.
- Assist in the development and submission of grants
The Visiting Extension Outreach Assistant will also:
- Assist with and support the overall University of Illinois Extension program.
- Assist in proposal development for the sustainability of the projects.
- Follow UIUC policies regarding human subjects.
- Perform other program related duties and other duties as assigned by the Extension Specialist, Marketing and Business Development and Illinois Master Naturalist Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) required
- Coursework in statistics
- Personal transportation and moderate travel required
- Ability to compile, organize, and maintain complex files, records and reports
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Word and Excel
- More than one year of professional experience in extension and outreach activities

- Ability to be self-directed and work flexible hours
