Visiting Communications Director, Energy Education Council

Full-time (100%), twelve-month, temporary, academic professional position. Position may become non-visiting in the future based on program and funding.
Location and Accountability
Energy Education Council office, 3001 West White Oaks Drive, Suite D, Springfield, IL 64704. This position reports to and is administratively responsible to the Director of the Energy Education Council (EEC).
Duties
- Creation and coordination of Energy Education Council public communication and outreach activities including research, writing and scheduling of news releases and articles, web site updates, etc. based on timely and emerging energy issues related to energy efficiency and electrical safety.
- Communication with news media, including correspondence and interviews as needed.
- Concept-to-creation participation in EEC program marketing and consumer outreach materials such as billboards, ad slicks, radio and TV public service announcements and video.
- Creation and coordination of stakeholder communication including quarterly Council newsletter, annual report, brochures and other programmatic publications.
- Creation of PowerPoint presentations and some public speaking
- Assist with staff supervision, and program management including organization of materials, scheduling and office-based customer service.
- Serve as a liaison with Energy Education Council members and other related organizations, as well as working with Council committees and volunteers
- Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S required in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite programs and experience with desk-top publishing software
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Personal transportation required. Moderate travel will be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency using InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed; and ability to work well in team settings
- Experience with public communication campaigns and association organizations

Commensurate with education and experience
