2009 State Street Farmers' & Artisan Market Coming Soon!
We are looking forward to the 2009 State Street Market to be held on Tuesday evenings from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm on the Jerseyville Banking Center parking lot located on State Street, beginning Tuesday, July 7. Jerseyville's Farmers' & Artisan Market will showcase local produce and artisan items such as blackberries, red raspberries, cherries, fresh eggs, lettuce, beans, onions, turnips, peaches, apples, herbs, rhubarb, molasses, honey, root beer, lemondaie, frozen beef, chicken, kettle corn, cottan candy, snow cones, journals, jewelry, artwork, purses, baskets, soap, pottery, baked goods and much more....
Fruits, vegetables, eggs and meats fresh from nearby fields, can offer the finest flavor and quality, while providing the opportunity to get to know the farmers. Farmers markets serve as an integral link between the urban and rural communities, affording farmers and their consumers the opportunity to interact. When we are able to talk to the producers of the food we eat we are able to ask questions to see how it has been raised. Some examples are: Have you sprayed this produce with pesticides? How recently? Is your beef antibiotic-free? Are the animals grass fed or grain fed?
Buying your food and artisan items locally is an efficient way to support your county's economy. Discover the joy of shopping for unique ingredients sold direct from the farm and the pleasure of buying familiar products in their freshest possible state. Variety is often diverse, so individual items may vary. Plan to arrive early as the demand is high!
