Celebrating in Calhoun

Several Calhoun County 4-H members were rewarded for their hard work throughout the year during the Calhoun County 4-H Achievement Program Sunday, Nov. 19.

Rebecca Brodbeck was selected as the Outstanding Calhoun County 4-H Member. Her club, Brussels Apple Jacks and Jills, received the Club of The Year Award.

Kate Schmidt, a member of the Golden Eagle Clovers, received the I Dare You Award, which recognizes youth ages 15-18 years old who strive to be their personal best and make a positive difference in their schools, youth groups, 4-H clubs and communities.

Michelle Robeen, a member of the Calhoun Clovers, was named the Outstanding First Year Girl.

Jacob Maag was honored for having the top club secretary's book and Audrey Tepen was recognized for having the top treasurer's book. The Club Historian Award went to Brussels Apple Jacks and Jills.

Curriculum area medals went to Brandon Nolte for environment and natural resources, Rebecca Brodbeck for food, nutrition and health, Abby Schleeper for home environment, Allison Moenning for personal development, and Emily Brodbeck for plants and soils.

Project medals went to Heather Carney for cat, Rebecca Brodbeck for child care, Abby Schleeper for clothing and textiles, Heather Sievers for food and nutrition, Amanda Gerson for goat, Emily Brodbeck for horticulture, Lindsey Rose for geology and interior design, Haley Rose for photography, Allison Moenning for public speaking, Michelle Robeen for rabbit and Amy Meyer for visual arts.

Each year a different club hosts and helps coordinate the achievement program. This year the Brussels Apple Jacks and Jills did an excellent job accomplishing these tasks

Wanted: new members for 4-H Federation

Are you 12 or older? Do you want to have fun with 4-H members from across both counties? Are you looking for leadership opportunities?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, thencome tothe next Calhoun-Jersey 4-H Federation meeting. It will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Jersey County Administration Building.

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations to all of our Jersey County 4-H members who were recognized during the Achievement Program Sunday afternoon.

Tiffany Phillips of Jerseyville was selected as the Outstanding Jersey County 4-H Member.

This year, Lone Star received the Club of The Year Award and one of its leaders, Jill Stemmler, was recognized as the Leader of the Year. Two of Lone Star's members, Ellen Stemmler and Jessica Parsell, also received the I Dare You Award. This award recognizes youth ages 15-18 years old who strive to be their personal best and make a positive difference in their schools, youth groups, 4-H clubs and communities.

Sawyer Burton, of the All-American Clovers, was honored with the Youth Leadership Award. This award recognizes a 4-H member who shows leadership potential and commitment to the betterment of youth in Jersey County.

The Outstanding First Year Girl award went to Bits N Spurs member Sarah Maag.

All-American Clovers member Margaret Wimmersberg was honored for having the top club secretary's book and Jakob Ringhausen, of the Bits N Spurs, was recognized for having the top treasurer's book. The Club Historian Award went to Eastside Farmhands.

Curriculum area medals went to Luci Reese for animal science, Audrey Parsell for food/nutrition/health, Phillips for home and family, Jessica Parsell for mechanics and technology and Sarah Moore for personal development.

Project medals went to Sid Sarginson for beef, Rachel Parsell for cat, Ellen Stemmler for child care, Megan Parsell for dog, Audrey Parsell for food and nutrition, Kelli Cassens for goat, Chelsea Nason for horse, Tiffany Phillips for interior design, Margaret Wimmersberg for photography, Sawyer Burton for poultry, Chrissy Duggan for public presentation, Sarah Maag for rabbit, Emily Moore for sheep, Lydia Stemmler for sewing and textiles, Morgan Nason for swine, Chrissy Duggan for tractor, Rachel Parsell for woodworking, Mary Heitzig for vet science and Sarah Moore for visual arts.

Got Game?

Are you between the ages of 12 and 14? Do you want to have fun and meet youth from across Illinois? Then you, and your friends, may be interested in attending the 12-14 Youth Confernce on Jan. 19 and 20 at Western Illinois University.

This conference is for those who want the opportunity to connect with peers, develop life skills such as team work, cooperation, sportsmanship, conflict resolution and leadership in a fun, hands-on setting. In other words, this conference is for YOU!!! Come and experience activities that will achieve all this and more!! Fun & games included at no additional charge

The conference is open to all 12- to 14-year-olds, including non 4-H members. The cost is $55 and scholarships are available. All registrations are due to the Calhoun-Jersey Extension Office by Thursday, Dec. 21.
