Earle Mailand serves as the County Extension Director for the Boone County Extension Unit. In that capacity, he is responsible for providing leadership for program planning and coordination, fiscal management of the unit, needs assessments and for the general operation of the Boone County Unit.

Earle is a native of northwestern Illinois. His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in music education, master's degree in educational administration and a certificate of advanced studies in educational administration, all of which are from Northern Illinois University.

Prior to joining Extension, Earle's professional career includes service in public education as a teacher, principal and superintendent of schools in school districts located in northwest Illinois and southwest Wisconsin.
