Karen File recognized at Illinois State Fair for Book Barn
On Tuesday, August 18th, Karen File attended the Illinois State Fair to receive recognition for the Bond County Ag in the Classroom Book Barn, a mobile learning center.
At the 2008 Bond County Fair the Book Barn was on display and the dedication ceremony occurred. Since then the Book Barn has been present at Conservation Day, Heritage Days, National Trail Bike Rally, 2009 Bond County Fair and various other events in the Bond County area.
During the Bond County Fair the Book Barn was located to the rear of the 4-H Building. Incubators with microscopes were on display where people could actually see inside the egg while it was developing. The chicken could also be seen on video via a CAM or camera and viewed on a computer.
Donations of books are always accepted for the Book Barn in the Extension office. Items can be donated in honor or memory of someone special in your life. For $5 you can receive a periodical Ag in the Classroom newsletter as well as an "Ag in the Classroom" cling.
Billy Stiff Clover Mascot at the Illinois State Fair
The Extension office would like to thank Billy Stiff, from the Old Ripley 4-H club, for being a part of a great 4-H Foundation promotion during the Illinois State Fair. On August 14th, Billy wore the 4-H Clover mascot outfit and handed out flyers promoting new 4-H license plate.
