Results for 2009 State Fair General 4-H Exhibits
Several Bond County 4-H members received Superior Awards and Awards of Excellence. First are listed the Superior award recipients followed by the Excellence Award recipients. The Superior award is one of the highest awards that a 4-H member can receive at the State Fair and the Excellence is the next highest award. Both awards tell the 4-H members that they have exceeded and/or met the project requirements.

Nathan Nehrt and Princess, his Spaniel, received Honorable Mention award and a scored 185 points.
The University of Illinois Extension, family, friends, and other 4-H members are very proud of these award recipients. Twenty-eight Bond County 4-H members showed their general projects at the State Fair attended and received a high award.

Tyler Carter--Illinois 4-H Dairy Teams Selected
The 2009 Illinois 4-H Invitational Dairy Cattle Judging Contest was held August 22 at the Illinois State Fair. Results from this contest, ability to present oral reasons, and judging results from the June contest were used to determine the four individuals that will represent Illinois 4-H in the 2009 National 4-H Dairy Judging Contest at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin on September 29 th.
Tyler Carter, of Greenville, was ranked number 7 out of 10 contestants at the Illinois State Fair 4-H Invitational Dairy Judging Contest receiving a "top 10" certificate and ribbon. Congratulations go to Tyler on his extensive dairy knowledge and experience which paid off with this recognition!

SKILL-A-THONS OFFERED DURING THE BOND COUNTY FAIR
Thanks goes to Carol Lingley for coordinating the Sheep Skill-A-Thon. Winners of the Sheep Skill-A-Thon include: 1st place, Jessica Ronat; 2nd place, Haley Pierce; 3rd place, Megan Hediger; and 4th place, Shelbi McCray. Prizes from this skill-a-thon were donated by Carol Lingley.
Also, thanks goes to Lauren Hahn for coordinating the Swine Skill-A-Thon!
