Carrie Edgar

County Extension Director

As County Director, Carrie provides supervision and coordination of Extension programming in Adams and Brown counties. She is responsible for the Unit's program planning, marketing, fund development & budget management.

Current Initiatives:

  • Locally Grown: A coordinated, comprehensive effort to assist producers to market locally grown products by educating consumers and retail outlets on the availability, nutritional aspects, economic and environmental impacts of buying local.
  • Alliance for Building Community: A community partnership of individuals and groups working to improve the quality of life for all residents of Adams County.
  • Institute for Excellence in Leadership: A certificate program for directors of Community Organizations to improve leadership skills.
  • Community Collaborations: Developing partnerships with other community organizations to better serve Adams and Brown counties.
  • Community Assessments: Brown County Community Assessment, Adams County 0-5 Inventory, Workforce Development Inventory, Catholic School Study, LaMoine River Ecosystem study, Community Foundation of the Quincy Area - Community Conversations and more.

Carrie Edgar has been with University of Illinois Extension since 1999. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Quincy University and a Master's Degree in Child, Family and Community Services from University of Illinois at Springfield.

Carrie serves on the Board of Directors of Friends of the Trails, Quincy Park District, Illinois Health Education Consortium, Quincy Bicentennial Lincoln Commission, Quincy Enterprize Zone Commission and the JWCC Horticulture Advisory Board.
